My substantive areas of research are related to examining how the features of close relationships, experiences of discrimination, and psychosocial factors influence racial health disparities. In addition, my research utilizes bio-behavioral approaches to explore the processes by which racial health disparities occur among disadvantaged youth. My methodological interests include survey research design, quasi-experimental design, and bio-behavioral research designs. I utilize both large national datasets as well as community-based surveys to address my research questions.
