My research focuses on the social and emotional development of infants and young children. Topics include family relationship functioning of mothers, fathers, and siblings and young children’s socioemotional development. Current topics of research focus on young children’s sibling relationships, jealousy between siblings, and family factors that contribute to sibling rivalry. Recent research looks at marital relationship quality, particularly, love between spouses and how this relates to young children’s emotion understanding and prosocial sibling interaction.
