December 11, 2010 – Sari Van Anders wins the Frank A. Beach Award in Behavioral Neuroendocrinology!
Dr. van Anders received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Western Ontario in 2001 and 2003, respectively. Her PhD was awarded in Biological and Cognitive Psychology from Simon Fraser University in 2007, where she was mentored by Neil Watson. Her first academic appointment was at Indiana University, Bloomington, and she has been on the faculty at the University of Michigan since 2008. She currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Women’s Studies, with affiliations to Michigan’s programs in Neuroscience, Reproductive Science, and Science, Technology, and Culture. Her work encompasses the role of steroid hormones in regulating sexuality and parental care, intimacy and nurturance, and relationships in human beings, feminist approaches to science, and the roles of sex and gender in the scientific enterprise. Her work is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Canadian Institute of Health Research.
